  2. How many sessions do you typically recommend for someone with my issue, and why? Be cautious of guarantees of single-session miracles and equally cautious of open-ended treatment with no review point.

  3. Will I receive a personalised recording for daily home practice? The deepest hypnotherapy work happens between sessions, not only in them.

  4. What is your approach when something difficult surfaces during a session? A trained practitioner can describe their containment and trauma-aware framework clearly.

  5. How will we know it is working, and how will we decide to stop? A good practitioner agrees the markers of progress with you up front, not retroactively.

When to seek more support

Hypnotherapy is not appropriate as a first-line treatment for psychosis, untreated bipolar disorder, severe dissociation, or active suicidal ideation. For those conditions, work first with a psychiatrist or qualified mental-health clinician. Hypnotherapy can often join the work later as integration support, with both practitioners aware of each other.
