The Vāsiṣṭha Bridge — a research program by Prof. Luis Miguel Gallardo
The mind makes the world. The trance remakes the mind.
Yoga Vāsiṣṭha Hypnotherapy (YVH) is the first clinical model to integrate the Supreme Yoga — the Sanskrit tradition's most complete theory of therapeutic imagination — with the modern science of hypnosis, and to measure its endpoint: Fundamental Peace.

One bridge, three moves
The text
The Yoga Vāsiṣṭha (Mokṣopāya) teaches through sixty-four stories that experienced worlds are mind-made, that latent impressions (vāsanā) sustain suffering, and that disciplined imagination (bhāvanā) dissolves them. Queen Cūḍālā — who awakens her husband through staged experience, role, and parable — is the tradition's own hypnotherapist.
The trance
Modern hypnotherapy independently validated the operative core: suggestion, expectancy, and absorption reorganize attention, emotion, and memory, with meta-analytic evidence across pain, anxiety, depression and more — and a founding lineage that runs through India.
The measure
The integration ends somewhere measurable. The text's liberation-in-life (jīvanmukti) is operationalized as Fundamental Peace — flexible attention, emotional coherence, freedom from self-referential rigidity, compassionate self-awareness — assessed by the FP20 scale.

Research agenda
Five hypotheses, stated as proposals to be tested — not as findings.
- H1YVH raises FP20 more than a relaxation control.
- H2Gains are mediated by absorption and decentring.
- H3Effects hold regardless of belief in the text's metaphysics.
- H4Bhāvanā-guided trance shows the expected neural signature.
- H5Narrative (tale-based) suggestion outperforms direct suggestion for reducing self-referential rigidity.
