From Sugar Cravings to Soul Healing: Leire’s Journey Through the Heart

Leire came to hypnotherapy with a deep worry nestled in her chest— a pain in her heart, a burning in her stomach, and a bitter, acidic taste in her mouth that wouldn’t go away. Her cardiologist had recently told her that her nervous system needed to be recalibrated to preserve her heart health. But no medical advice could ease the emotional storm underneath: the anxiety, the compulsive eating, the constant sense of being overwhelmed and out of control.

She had been single for years. Her life had revolved around caregiving, especially for her father until he passed. And for years before that, food—especially sugar—had been her most accessible refuge. A way to silence the chaos. A way to self-soothe when the weight of responsibility felt too heavy to bear. But she knew it wasn’t sustainable. Her body was speaking loudly. It was time to listen.

A Body That Speaks the Truth

In our session, Leire allowed herself to fully drop into her body. She described the heart pain as sharp and heavy, the stomach as tight and fiery, and the sourness in her mouth as if her words—her truth—had never been spoken. As we guided her into trance, these physical symptoms became doorways, leading her to the deeper layers of her emotional world.

During the regression, a powerful memory emerged. She was just a child, and her mother—overwhelmed and grieving the loss of her own mother—was relying heavily on young Leire to take care of her baby brothers. There was no room for affection. No warm embrace. No acknowledgment of Leire’s own needs. Her mother, in her own silent suffering, had unconsciously placed the mantle of adulthood on Leire’s small shoulders.

And Leire had taken it on—because that’s what good daughters do.

But inside her? A storm. Anger. Sadness. Longing. An unmet need for nurturing that had, over time, morphed into anxiety, guilt, and a deep-seated pattern of using food as love, sugar as comfort.

Healing the Mother Line

In trance, we invited Leire to revisit that memory—not just to relive it, but to transform it. With her subconscious fully open, she met her mother not as the cold or absent figure of her childhood, but as a woman who had lost her own mother far too young. An orphan forced to grow up quickly. A heart that had never fully healed.

From there, the session took a profound turn. Leire’s mother appeared in the imagery, and so did her grandmother—the one whose death had caused the original rupture. We facilitated a three-way dialogue between grandmother, mother, and daughter.

Tears flowed. Words were spoken that had never been voiced. Forgiveness was offered. And slowly, lovingly, a new pattern emerged—one rooted not in survival, but in love.

The grandmother offered her blessing. The mother expressed her sorrow and her pride in Leire. And Leire, for the first time in her life, felt the love that had been waiting for her all along—just hidden beneath layers of grief, silence, and generational pain.

The Heart Calibrated by Love

When Leire came out of trance, she said something I’ll never forget:

“My heart still hurts… but now it’s open. And that’s a different kind of pain.”

The compulsive urge for sugar wasn’t gone overnight—but its power had weakened. No longer was it the only source of sweetness in her life. Her healing had begun at the root. Her nervous system had received a message her body had been yearning to hear: You are safe. You are loved. You don’t have to carry it all alone anymore.

From addiction to liberation. From bitterness to love. From a worried heart to a healed family line.

This is the kind of healing hypnotherapy can offer—not just to the individual, but to generations.

If you feel like your body is speaking in pain or your behaviors are patterns with deeper roots, know that healing is possible. You are not alone in your story. And sometimes, the key to transformation is found not in willpower—but in finally listening to your soul.
