Resumen en lenguaje claro
People come back from a retreat, a ceremony or a breakthrough session changed — and a month later they are who they were. This paper argues that the bridge from a temporary state to a lasting stage is shadow work: meeting what we reject in ourselves, finding the gift hidden in it, and letting essence emerge. It names five stages, seven mechanisms and two questionnaires for testing the claim, and it is the framework under Fundamental Peace, the Six Wounds, the ITM Assessment and the Transpersonal Coaching Program.
Resumen académico
Transpersonal psychology has long struggled to explain how temporary states of consciousness translate into permanent developmental stages. The Integrative Transformation Model (ITM) addresses this gap with a framework that synthesises Jungian shadow integration, contemplative neuroscience and developmental stage theory. ITM articulates five developmental stages — from Unconscious Reactivity to Transcendent Integration — mediated by seven transformation mechanisms: recognition, witnessing, intention discovery, symbolic integration, embodied practice, relational mirroring and meaning-making. Central to ITM is the Shadow–Gift–Essence (S-G-E) process, which operationalises shadow work as the primary pathway through which transient self-transcendent experiences catalyse enduring structural development. The paper specifies mechanisms, proposes assessment protocols (the 50-item ITM Stage Assessment and the 70-item ITM Mechanism Inventory, with preliminary psychometrics on N = 250: α = .82–.91, four-week test–retest r = .78–.86, convergent validity with the WUSCT, PCPA, FFMQ and SCS) and offers implementation frameworks for clinical, educational and organisational contexts.
